    About us
    Oak International School is a growing international school specialising in the delivery of the Cambridge curriculum. We have students from creche to Year 10, thus we are in our first year of delivering the Cambridge IGCSE. We are looking to appoint a part-time sociology teacher. 

    Candidate responsibilities 
    Your role will include, but not be limited to:

    • Teaching Sociology to students in Y10-Y11
    • Plan schemes of learning
    • Engage in short-and medium-term planning of lessons based on schemes of learning
    • Establish clear targets and routines for pupils’ achievement and evaluate progress through the use of appropriate assessments
    • Adapt lesson plans based on assessment of pupils’ current progress
    • Give pupils regular, precise feedback
    • Support pupils to respond to feedback, reflect on progress and take a responsible and conscientious attitude to their learning
    • Set homework in line with the school policy
    • Support the development of pupils’ numeracy skills as appropriate to the subject
    • Promote high standards of literacy including the correct use of spoken English
    • Use a range of appropriate teaching strategies so that all pupils can make optimum progress
    • Use assessment for learning to inform teaching and progress
    • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of developments in pedagogy and research informed practice

    Candidate requirements

    • Knowledge of the Cambridge secondary education system, examinations and curriculum

    Oak International School is a growing international school specialising in the delivery of the Cambridge curriculum. We have students from creche to Year 10, thus we are in our first year of delivering the Cambridge IGCSE. We are looking to appoint a part-time school counsellor.

    Candidate responsibilities 

    Your role will include, but not be limited to:

      • To ensure and organise counselling to suit the social and emotional needs of children and provide the relevant service including, individual counselling, group counselling and family meetings.
      • To liaise with members of the wider school staff in order to work in the best interest of children.
      • To arrange regular meetings with parents of children who are using the service; as appropriate.
      • To provide consultation where a child protection issue or other such issues arise.
      • To provide support and guidance to other counsellors and teaching staff enabling them to better identify and support children with emotional and wellbeing difficulties.
      • To maintain appropriate records and to ensure confidentiality is maintained in all aspects of work.
      • To establish, maintain and monitor appropriate administrative systems with regards to student referral and to provide termly quantitative data reports for review, evaluation and planning.
      • To contribute to the promotion of health and wellbeing initiatives in school.
    • To support new families in the transition into a new school and country or city.
    •  To assess students for educational learning needs.

    • Ability to stay abreast of current counselling developments, evaluate such in terms of suitability and utility, and disseminate such information to teachers as appropriate.

    Teacher Essential Experience
    • Minimum of Bachelors Degree for Teaching
    • A teaching certificate
    • Relevant Teaching experience in International School is an added advantage
    • Preferred experience and training with Cambridge Assessment
